As both a self-taught visual artist and a professional bassoonist, color is an important part of everything I do. Texture, inspiration, style, dynamics and communication are words that connect these two disciplines and are how I express myself, both in my art and my music. I divide my time between New York and Ajijic, Jalisco in Mexico. I graduated from the Juilliard School of Music and perform with several orchestras throughout New York and New England. While in Mexico, my days are spent pursuing my artistic passions and I am equally drawn to practicing my music and honoring my need to create art. I have studied jewelry design and previously owned a fashion company for several years. I have traveled the world for music and business and have found myself inspired by the culture of Mexico and the way that color is embraced. My paintings are a direct result of this inspiration. I partner with a Mexican businesswoman for my printing and she employs Mexican seamstresses to sew my shawls. I am proud to say that from the paint on the canvas to the shawl reaching your doorstep, it has been crafted and cared for exclusively by women. I work in acrylics and once a painting is finished it is then scanned and printed onto the highest quality polyester using the process of sublimation. The printed fabric is turned into these versatile shawls which are sewn with a contrasting back color for optimal wearing options. I love to see women proud of how they look and the shawls are truly wearable art, soft as silk and flattering for every shape and size. They can be worn casually or add a dramatic pop of color for that special occasion. It is my hope that you will enjoy them and they will bring you a sense of confidence and pleasure. |
